HEALING FOODS Tips For Common Eye diseases





There are several diseases that affect the eye which are basically caused by deficiency in some important nutrients essential for its right functioning. These problems can be corrected if attention is given to the right diets. Let’s see some common eye problem with the healing foods/diet.
·         CONJUNCTIVITIS: this can be caused by an infection by various types of germs or smoke irritation. A diet with deficiency in vitamin A and B predispose to dryness of the conjunctiva and aggravates conjunctivitis. To begin to correct this problem the following healing foods must increase in the diet; Apricot, Sweet Potatoes , Carrots , Dark Leafy Greens , Butternut Squash, Lettuce , Dried Apricots , Cantaloupe, Red Pepper, Mangoes, Whole Milk, Bananas, Potatoes, Tomatoes, Spinach,  Kefir, Tuna, Oats, Brazil nuts, Avocados, Legumes, and other food rich in Vitamin B, Vitamin A.
  • MACULAR DEGENERATION OF THE RETINA: This mostly causes blindness in people above the age of 65. The macula is the most sensitive area of the retina in which the most visual acuity is concentrated. It is the most sensitive part of the retina. It is fostered by prolonged exposure to intense light, free radicals and lack of antioxidant. Healing foods: The most effective substance in preventing macular degeneration are caroteniods(vegetable pigment), most especially zeaxanthin and lutein found in Spinach and cabbage. Other ones are orange, zinc and antioxidants.
  • VISUAL ACUITY: The most common causes of this problem are the retinal dysfunction caused by diabetes. Other causes can be cataracts and tumors. Deficiency in antioxidants as a result of diet lacking in vegetable, fruits, seeds and oil-bearing nuts lead to the deterioration of the retina there by foster the loss of visual. Healing foods: Carrot, Spinach, Apricot, Squash, Blueberry, blackberry and antioxidants.
  • GLAUCOMA: This is basically caused by an increase in pressure of the liquid within the eye. This drastically affects the retina and optic nerve resulting in serious vision repercussions. Though close- angle glaucoma which is most common of this disease is due to anatomical alteration of the eye, the type of diet can influence intraocular pressure, improving or aggravating glaucoma. Healing foods: There must be reduction or total elimination of Proteins, Coffee, and Trans-fatty Acids while there must be increase in orange and foods rich in vitamin B1 and vitamin A.
  • CATARACTS: This is the opaqueness of the lens. Diabetes, exposure to ultraviolet and x-ray radiation can result in cataracts formation. The use of some certain medication can also cause it. It is common in old age. Healing foods: Taking in abundant foods rich in provitamin A and antioxidant vitamin C and E, such as fruit, vegetables and seed can hinder the formation of cataracts. There must be reduction of total elimination of Diary products, Total fat, butter and salt.
  • NIGHT BLIDNESS: This is the lack of ability to adapt to seeing within the dark. It constitutes one amongst the primary symptoms of vitamin A deficiency. Healing foods: Foods rich in vitamin A will do fine. Others are Carrot, Apricot and mango.
